Coming to First Baptist from the Bedford Church of the Nazarene, I am grateful for the wonderful opportunity the Lord has given me to serve Him within this gracious and encouraging congregation! I believe there is no greater privilege than to serve and shepherd God’s people.
I love working together to learn, serve, grow and worship as Christ’s body. My personal statement for ministry is: embracing the transforming power of Christ for life, leadership and kingdom community. Since the moment I’ve known Jesus He has been shaking up and changing my life continually! I am in awe of Him every day and love to watch Him work in the lives of those who are courageous enough to trust in Him.
A bit about my background: Before answering the call to ministry I enjoyed a career in Special Education. I am a graduate of Ashland Theological Seminary, having earned a Master of Divinity with a concentration in Evangelism, Missions and Church Renewal. I also hold Bachelors and Master’s degrees in education. My husband, Tom, and I met at Ohio University; have been married 36 years; raised three wonderful children and have an equally wonderful son-in-law.
The Lord has given me a special love of missions, having led several short term missions to Central America, as well as Disaster Response missions in the U.S. I am a Rapid Response Chaplain for the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association.
My spare time is spent enjoying my family, and snuggling with my sweet little pug dogs in our big easy chair at home – it is heavenly!
Jerry has been involved in the music ministry at First Baptist for 44 years. Sometimes he has been organist, sometimes choir director, and currently he wears both hats, while doing a terrific job. It is a blessing to have Jerry lead us every Sunday. Jerry knows his choir and knows music and always does a great job of selecting music which allows the choir’s gifts to shine, as well as selecting music that fits the overall theme of worship and the morning's message. Whether it is the choir soloists or instrumental work Jerry makes sure the music at FBC leads us to uplifting inspirational worship.
Jerry is also known in the music world throughout the Cleveland area. He is involved in many musical endeavors in the greater Cleveland area and is in demand as a piano accompanist.
